Brookside Park Annual Meeting and Board Election ANOTHER DELAY!!!
Though, once again, we have not heard anything from the rogue Brookside "Board" since an unsigned email of October 28, we have heard from multiple sources that the election set for November 15th won't happen.
This will count at the seventh postponement of our Annual Meeting and Board election. No valid reasons for this last postponement have been shared with the Unit Owners.
We were told that Mr. Perry, Counsel for the Association, has been sidelined from any oversight of the elections. Apparently, he was replaced by Jane Rogers, a Partner from Whiteford Taylor Preston. A week later, we are told that Attorney Rogers and her firm have been dismissed and that the "Board" has retained another firm, the Walton Law Group LLC and that the election has now been postponed one more time.
All of these changes in counsel make it clear the so-called Board is shopping for an attorney that will serve it and not the Association.
They are doing this with our money!
There are no minutes of these meetings shared with us and no transparency in the decisions. Why is Mr. Lucas and his group clinging to these positions? Why are the Annual Meeting and the Board elections not taken seriously by this "Board"? Why have no reports about the Association finances been shared with the owners in over 18 months?
This "Board" has demonstrated itself to be acting in complete defiance of our By-Laws, of the Maryland Condominium Act, and of explicit orders from the Office of the Attorney General. If you are concerned as we are, that this "Board" is blatantly overstepping its authority, you may wish to make your own voice heard, as a concerned Unit Owner.
You may contact your representative on the Prince George's County Council. The Councilman for District 8 (includes Oxon Hill) is Edward Burroughs, III. He can be reached at: phone: 301-952-3860 and email: Councildistrict8@co.pg.md.us. He is copied on this email as well.
You may contact Karen Straughn, of the Office of the Attorney General. She is well aware of the Brookside situation and is also copied on this email. She can be reached at 410-576-7942 and by email at kstraughn@oag.state.md.us.
These delays after delays leave us no option but to take action of our own. We will continue to keep you informed of our actions, and to engage in efforts to protect our collective interests. We ask that you also stay engaged in this process and not give up asking questions and demanding transparency and accountability. Please STAY INVOLVED!
