Brookside Park Election Update: No Update from the "Board"
There has been no communication with the Unit Owners from the "Board" since their unsigned email dated October 28 (two days before the election) announcing yet another delay to the election. A week later, there is still no information explaining why this sudden delay was warranted except that reference was made to "unqualified candidates on the proxy and the eligibility of voting units has to be verified."
Yet, the proxies were generated and distributed by the very same Board in consultation with Counsel. And this Board has had months if not years to organize the election and to vet the candidates (and the voters) adequately.
Although they have yet to announce the new date of the election, we are being told the Attorney General's Office requested that the new election take place no later than November 15.
Mr. Perry, Counsel to the Association, was mysteriously sidelined just before the election. A new attorney (and firm) was hired by the Board, possibly to manage the election. We still have no knowledge of who is conducting the election; what steps are being taken to ensure election integrity, transparency and accountability. Mr. Perry had previously made assurances that he would oversee the process. SInce he was replaced, all the ballots were transferred to the Board. How does this contribute to election integrity, transparency and accountability?
We urge all Unit Owners to remain engaged as we are.
If you have voted already, your ballots are valid (per the OAG).
If you have not voted and wish to participate in the election, please be on the lookout for the ballot/proxy which is supposedly going to be issued today, Friday November 4, 2022.
Updates will be posted on www.brooksidepark.org
